General Summary
The Department of Statistics at Western Michigan University seeks candidates for a tenure-track, 1.0 FTE, academic year, Assistant/Associate Professor position beginning August 15, 2026 on its main campus in Kalamazoo, MI. This position teaching position has additional research and service responsibilities.
Major Duties
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics and data science.
- Advising students.
- Conducting research.
- Publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
- Writing and submitting grant proposals, and service.
- Research and service responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Ph.D. degree in Statistics, Applied Statistics or Data Science by December 31, 2026, from an accredited institution.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Potential for teaching excellence.
- Potential to develop and maintain an outstanding research program in statistics or data science related methodology.
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to teach a variety of statistics classes at various levels.
- Expertise in statistical methodology.
- Teaching experience as a sole instructor of record.
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting the success of students from underrepresented groups.
