Job Description:

APPOINTMENT: May 2023

RESPONSIBILITIES: The assistant coach for men's basketball is responsible for all aspects related to assisting the head coach with conducting practices and competition, individual development, assisting with recruiting and contacting prospective student-athletes and promoting/maintaining positive public relations.

Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree. Demonstrated experience coaching basketball at the NCAA Division I level: proven record of player skill development; proven record of adherence to all NCAA Division I compliance regulations; strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, must have a valid driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience coordinating team travel; knowledge with Synergy Sports Tech and Microsoft Office software.

For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). Unless otherwise stated, the degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.

Student Resources

More than 200 student organizations at Western provide social, academic, recreation, athletics, service, academic, and many other opportunities for students to grow and learn, develop leadership skills, and much more. WIU Intercollegiate Athletics
The University's athletics program, based on the Macomb campus, sponsors 17 NCAA Division I intercollegiate men's and women's varsity sports. Football competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision through the Missouri Valley Football Conference; all other varsity sports compete at the Division I level through The Summit League
