General Purpose of the Position: Responsible as the generalist for the domestic violence program and must be capable of assisting in all facets including but not limited to: client advocacy and other services, legal, and responsible for all facets of the children’s program.

Supervisory Responsibility: None
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Train and develop a working knowledge of all facets of the domestic violence program.
- Available to provide all direct client programmatic services for domestic violence clients including, but not limited to legal advocacy, crisis intervention, counseling and support, advocacy, and group support.
- Plan, coordinate and supervise all children’s activities at the program office, including children’s activity groups.
- Provide a stable, non-judgmental adult role model for all interactions with children in a safe, positive environment; facilitate open and positive communication between children and their parents; and provide parenting skills information as appropriate.
- Maintain children’s program files, equipment and supplies, and complete all necessary children’s program and legal component paperwork as required.
- Provide client accompaniment to police stations, states attorney offices and courtrooms, as assigned, and provide emotional support to survivors as they progress through the legal system.
- Responsible for completion of all relevant paperwork, report preparation, and computer data entry as per work requirements.
- Assist the VS Director in the expansion of public relations/education component of the program.
- Understand and maintain client confidentiality as required by law and funding sources.
- Travel throughout the region is required in performance of job duties, in addition to trainings or other required activities.
- Provide sexual violence and domestic violence crisis line and hotline duty, and documentation when scheduled or needed.
- Assist in coordinating/implementing tabling and awareness events and other related activities during the year.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
- Must be available to perform the essential functions of the job whenever scheduled to work.
- Must be able to move about to meet with clients, the public, coworkers, and others to deliver case management, advocacy, counseling, and outreach activities required by the program.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position to work on a computer to enter documentation, coordinate events, answer the telephone, and to refer clients to services.
- Must be able to pick up and hold documents and other common office items.
- Must be able to communicate and converse with clients, coworkers, and community partners to carry out assigned duties.
- Must be able to operate a computer to record and report data, and to communicate with staff, clients, volunteers, and community partners.
- Must be able to use a telephone to communicate with clients, coworkers, volunteers, and community partners.
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle to provide required services in the community.

Minimum Level of Education/Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree in sociology, social work or psychology preferred and/or two years’ work experience in a social service field or combination of education/experience in a related field.
License or Certification Required: Must have a valid Illinois Driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
