What are the responsibilities and job description for the Leisure Service Assistant position at Western Home Communities?
- Assist in planning and leading group and one-on-one leisure activities that support residents’ interests, abilities, and personal goals.
- Help develop and carry out a monthly activity calendar with engaging social, recreational, and wellness opportunities.
- Safely transport and assist residents in attending activities both within the community and on community outings.
- Build positive relationships with residents, families, staff, and volunteers.
- Observe residents during activities and promptly communicate any unusual behaviors or concerns to nursing staff.
- Maintain accurate participation records and activity documentation.
- Keep activity areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Assist with ordering and organizing activity supplies.
- Support volunteer involvement and help ensure volunteers have a welcoming and rewarding experience.
- Assist with the preparation and service of breakfast meals for approximately 15–20 residents on an as-needed basis while following food safety and sanitation standards.
- A compassionate, energetic individual who enjoys working with older adults.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to organize activities and manage multiple tasks.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to safely assist residents with mobility and participation in activities.
- Previous experience in activities, recreation, hospitality, customer service, or senior living is preferred, but not required.
