Senior Accountant – Job Description

Position Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity and accuracy of Western Golf Properties’ financial records. This position will account for the daily operations of our managed golf course operations, ensuring timely, and accurate financial reporting that is in compliance with GAAP. The Senior Accountant performs month-end and year-end property closes, preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and collaborates with property managers and finance leadership to provide actionable financial insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Oversee general ledger maintenance and ensure data integrity across entities.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Prepare and analyze consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules, prepaid expenses, and accruals.
- Review and verify the accuracy of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll postings.
- Support external audits by providing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Analyze financial variances and provide explanations and recommendations to management.
- Develop and implement process improvements and accounting best practices.
- Collaborate with property managers and regional operations to ensure accurate reporting.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of financial information.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer or Executive leadership.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA certification or progress toward CPA a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity or hospitality environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Experience with QuickBooks or equivalent accounting software.
Skills:
- Advanced Excel skills including v-lookup and pivot tables.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Compensation and Benefits
- $85k - $110k annual salary.
- Eligible to participate in company benefits plan after 90 days for health, dental, vision and voluntary life insurance.
- Seven paid holidays annually
- Accrue up to 112 hours of PTO per year

Pay: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
