What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Driver's License Driver position at Western Equipment LLC?
Overview
Western Equipment is a family owned and operated trucking company providing temperature-controlled transportation across the Midwest, South and Southwest since 1995. We are based in Holland, Michigan, and are looking to expand but to do that we need YOU! We are seeking motivated individuals to join our wonderful team.
All our employees must have a clean driving record and pass a pre-employment drug screening.
Our routes are primarily in the Midwest with some in the South and Southwest.
All pay is based on experience. Every driver has different needs, so we do the best we can to meet all needs. Any questions on pay, we would be more than happy to run you a scenario.
- Pay starts at .60/mile with $40 per Stop and $40 per Pick Up.
- 6 Paid Holidays ($200 per day): New Years Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day.
- 1-week paid vacation after 1 year of employment.
- 2 weeks paid vacation after 2 years of employment.
- Health insurance benefits are offered after 30 days of employment.
- Direct Deposit weekly.
We can be flexible with schedules as we understand life happens. Communication is key!
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 21 years old to travel out of state.
- Valid US Commercial Driver's License, Class A, Manual Endorsement.
- Updated Medical Card.
- Proven experience in truck driving or commercial driving is required (Minimum of 2 years experience).
- Familiarity with manual transmission vehicles.
- Experience with refrigerated trailers is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Understanding that there will be long working hours, including some nights, and occasional weekends as needed.
- Previous delivery driver experiences preferred, along with knowledge of freight handling procedures.
- Experience in route driving with a strong understanding of local traffic laws and regulations.
JOB DUTIES:
- Drive tractor/trailer combination following designated routes and schedules.
- Maintain accurate and descriptive transportation documentation.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers.
- Report maintenance or repairs to ensure equipment reliability and cleanliness.
- Accurately document delivery times, mileage & fuel use (trip sheets). A fuel card is provided.
- Communicate professionally with dispatchers, other team members, and personnel at receivers/shippers.
- Address and resolve transportation-related issues promptly and courteously.
- Understanding that you will not be home every day, BUT you will be home every weekend (with the exception of busy season weekend rotation).
- The closer you live to Holland, MI the more you will be home throughout the week.

You must live within 100 miles of Holland, MI, or be willing to travel home every weekend. We will not hire anyone who lives outside of that radius.
