Terramac is looking for a Machine Design Engineer at our Sugar Grove, IL location. The Machine Design Engineer is responsible for the design and continuous improvement of prime product attachments and the components. You’ll use well-developed engineering skillsets, industry and supply base knowledge, and effective internal and external interactions to create efficient, reliable assembly-level designs. This position will manage one or more medium-sized design projects while balancing many additional smaller projects. This position will be capable of providing accurate technical information for the areas they control and will be fully competent in internal processes and systems. You will assist groups throughout the organization with technical inquiries and be the primary engineering resource for at least one functional area of the machine.
What You’ll Do:
· Design, package, and release sub-system level assemblies using engineering fundamentals that ensure machine level requirements are met.
· Identify and select reliable and cost-effective components.
· Anticipate potential hazards, assess risk, and design safety into all products and systems.
· Build expertise in engineering methods, systems, and processes. Educate and train others on technical items and assembly/maintenance of sub-system(s) in their design control.
· Perform tests and/or simulations to prove out designs prior to production implementation.
· Communicate design decisions and constraints within the engineering team.
· Assist in the evaluation and feasibility of customization requests involving sub-systems in your design control, and implement when reasonable.
· Use SolidWorks CAD in design, packaging, and detailing of systems and components.
What You’ll Need:
· Bachelor’s Engineering Degree, Mechanical Discipline preferred.
· Minimum 2 years in Mobile Vehicle Systems Engineering.
· Some experience/knowledge in technical elements of any relevant sub-systems.
· Strong computer skills and understanding of supply chain, ERP systems, and SolidWorks.
· Strong ethical conduct.
· Strong communication skills.
· Ability to produce positive outcomes and meet project objectives.
· Strong critical thinking skills as they apply to product and manufacturing improvements.
· Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
· Ability to work independently with moderate guidance and checking of work.
