RMPT is looking for an Assistant Service Manager at our Brighton, CO location. The Assistant Service Manager supports the daily operation of the Service Department by assisting in the supervision of technicians, coordinating workflow, ensuring quality repairs, and delivering exceptional customer service. This position partners with the Service Manager to achieve operational goals while promoting CK Power Family of Companies’ values by providing value to employees, exceptional service and quality to customers, and financial returns to the company.
You’ll serve as the primary backup to the Service Manager and assumes leadership responsibilities in their absence.
What You’ll Do:
Supervision and Leadership
• Assist the Service Manager with the daily supervision of service technicians.
• Coordinate technician work assignments and assist with scheduling to maximize productivity and efficiency.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job training to technicians.
• Monitor work quality and ensure repairs are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
• Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment.
Operational Management
• Support achievement of departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including productivity, efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
• Monitor work in process and assist in balancing shop workload and technician utilization.
• Verify repair procedures are followed and assist with technical problem solving when needed.
• Maintain shop organization, cleanliness, and compliance with all safety policies.
• Assist in managing shop equipment, special tools, and inventory of service supplies.
Customer Service and Administration
• Serve as a point of contact for customers regarding repair status, scheduling, and service concerns.
• Assist with reviewing work orders, estimates, repair documentation, and warranty information for accuracy and completeness.
• Help resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Utilize service management software to monitor work orders, technician productivity, and departmental performance.
• Maintain accurate service records and ensure timely completion of administrative paperwork.
Continuous Improvement
• Support process improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, quality, and profitability.
• Stay current on diesel engine, power generation, and service technologies through ongoing training.
• Promote continuous learning and technical development among service technicians.
What You’ll Need:
• Associate degree in Diesel Technology or equivalent technical education preferred.
• 5–8 years of experience as a diesel technician, power generation technician, or related service professional.
• Previous experience leading technicians or serving in a shop lead, foreman, or supervisory capacity preferred.
• Strong understanding of diesel engines, power generation equipment, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Working knowledge of service management software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong leadership and coaching skills.
• Excellent customer service and conflict resolution abilities.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced service environment.
• Analytical thinking and sound decision-making abilities.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
