The primary location of this position is on-site in Cullowhee, NC.
The primary purpose of this position is to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair campus-wide electronic systems and infrastructure within Facilities Management. The position is responsible for the installation and ongoing maintenance of data and telecommunication networks, coaxial video distribution networks, electronic fire alarm systems, and electronically controlled industrial and generator transfer switch systems.
Work requires proficiency with specialized network certification and electronic testing equipment, the ability to interpret technical documentation and apply NFPA and NEC standards, and the judgment to diagnose and resolve complex faults across multiple interconnected systems. The position operates with general supervision, applying journey-level technical knowledge and systematic repair methods consistent with university and industry standards.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
- Working knowledge of electronics and mathematical principles as applied to electronic circuitry installation, maintenance, and testing.
- Ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot data/telecommunication networks, coaxial video systems, fire alarm systems, and industrial control systems using standard and specialized electronic testing equipment.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, technical manuals, NFPA and NEC requirements, and other technical documentation; ability to read and implement data and telecommunication infrastructure meeting university standards.
- Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to establish and maintain working relationships with university staff, contractors, and vendors, and to maintain current knowledge of industry trends and technological advancements.
