Job Summary
The Youth Program Assistant supports the planning, implementation, and supervision of youth programs designed to promote social, educational, and recreational development. This role involves working directly with children and adolescents in a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment while assisting program staff with daily activities, documentation, and logistics.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, organizing, and leading age-appropriate activities, workshops, and events
- Supervise youth participants to ensure safety, positive behavior, and program engagement
- Support youth in developing social, academic, and life skills
- Help maintain attendance records, activity logs, and required documentation
- Set up and clean-up program spaces, materials, and equipment
- Enforce program rules, policies, and safety procedures
- Provide positive role modeling and mentorship to youth participants
- Communicate effectively with program staff, parents/guardians, and participants
- Assist with field trips, special events, and community activities
- Report concerns, incidents, or behavioral issues to supervisors promptly
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college coursework in education, social work, or related field preferred)
- Experience working with children or youth in a group setting preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude
- Ability to follow instructions and organizational policies
- Basic first aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
