Position Overview

Western Ag Professional Agronomy is seeking a driven, independent Professional Agronomy Consultant (PAC) to join our team in the Pacific Northwest. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated agronomy professional who thrives in a field-based role with significant earning potential. You will work directly with growers to provide expert agronomic advice, product recommendations, and support to maximize crop performance and farm profitability.

This position offers a balanced compensation model: base salary of $30,000 plus uncapped commission, allowing high performers to substantially increase their income through sales and customer success.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong relationships with growers, retailers, and industry partners across the Pacific Northwest
• Provide on-farm agronomic consultations, including soil fertility, crop nutrition, pest management, and precision agriculture recommendations
• Deliver product knowledge and technical support for Western Ag’s portfolio of crop inputs and services
• Conduct field trials, demonstrations, and data collection to support grower decision-making
• Identify new business opportunities and drive sales growth in your territory
• Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, field visits, and sales activity
• Stay current on agronomic trends, regulations, and emerging technologies in the region

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (4-year) in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, Agricultural Business, or a closely related field
• Strong independent work ethic and self-motivation – ability to manage your own schedule and territory effectively
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel extensively within the Pacific Northwest
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with growers
• Practical agronomy experience (farm background or previous sales/technical role preferred)
• Proficiency with basic computer applications and mobile technology for field reporting

WHAT IS A PAC?

Professional Agronomy Consultants (PACs) are highly motivated professionals who work one-on-one with farmers to develop and implement a customized PRS Cropcaster® analysis. To deliver quality Cropcaster® recommendations, PACs are current with best agronomic practices and enjoy advising and educating farmers. PACs work independently, but also form a Professional Agronomy Network supported by a General Manager, as well the entire Western Ag team of professionals.

BASE COMPENSATION AND ADDITIONAL INCENTIVES: A competitive commission model provides significant earning potential. In addition, the Balanced Performance Incentive is an annual bonus awarded based on performance.

HOW DO PACs HELP FARMERS?

AGRONOMICS: Through implementing a customized PRS Cropcaster® recommendation, farmers optimize crop returns by catering crop selection to the field, through evaluation of crop economics, and by using a balanced fertilizer blend. The resulting synergies enhance crop productivity, with customers seeing significant yield increases.

ECONOMICS: By focusing on optimizing yields and maximizing profits, Western Ag applies the ‘law of diminishing returns’ and empowers farmers to Grow More Profit.

EDUCATION/EMPOWERMENT: As professional consultants, PACs are also educators. PACs present the options, farmers make the decisions and, collaboratively produce a plan. Eighty percent of our customers feel that the PRS CropCaster® tool is an empowering, farm management decision support tool (Integrow Study 2010).

Pay: $30,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
