As an Account Manager, you’re the one assisting our agents and the customers — the person growers know they can reach when their agent is in the field, the one underwriters trust to get the details right, and the operational support that will keep the reporting and the overall book of business on track.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Account Managers at Western Ag are key members and improve relationships and support the overall operation. You’ll support a shared book of business across our agents — getting to know growers, optimizing insurance policies, and making sure every piece is in place from data compilation, to underwriter coordination, to claims updates.
WHAT YOU WILL DO AT WESTERN AG
Customer Relationships & Strategy
• Serve as the go-to contact when an agent is unavailable — growers will know your name
• Take or transfer claim calls, open claims in AIP systems quickly and accurately
• Join grower meetings alongside agents to build and deepen relationships
• Reach out for missing documents, information, and clarifying details
• Quote and prepare policy estimates
Underwriter & Policy Coordination
• Compile and organize data packages for written agreements
• Act as the first point of contact with underwriters and resolve policy issues
Operational Excellence
• Enter and manage data in AIP systems with precision
• Track policy status, deadlines, and follow-up items
• Validate policy documents for accuracy and completeness
• Keep client files accurate, complete, and well-organized
Knowledge & Expertise
• Build a solid working knowledge of policies, crops, and insurance strategies
• Stay current on RMA requirements, state regulations, and carrier guidelines
QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience: 1–3 years in crop insurance or a related field such as ag operations, specialty insurance, or ag lending
• Licensing: Active California Property & Casualty Insurance License — or the drive to obtain one quickly
• Customer service instincts: you know how to earn trust fast
• Comfort coordinating with underwriters and navigating policy details
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and/or AIP software
• Tech-savvy and genuinely excited to learn new systems
• Excellent attention to detail and follow-through
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication
BONUS QUALITIES
• Direct hands-on experience with AIP systems and/or crop insurance underwriting
• Experience leveraging AI tools to sharpen your workflows
• Established relationships in the California specialty crop community

$74,000–$78,000 base salary with annual bonus potential
