SUMMARY
The Group Lead plays a crucial role in developing, training, evaluating, and scheduling both probationary and regular full-time employees in the area. This position also supports the department supervisor in meeting daily and monthly objectives related to safety, quality, accuracy, and production. The Group Lead is tasked with expediting work orders through the manufacturing process, ensuring accurate production reporting, and optimizing resources while minimizing scrap and rework. The ideal candidate should be a highly analytical multi-tasker with strong organizational and prioritization skills, along with expertise in the relevant field. This is a working Group Lead role that is safety-sensitive.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Consistent and timely attendance at work is a fundamental requirement for every role and is crucial for both your personal effectiveness and that of your team. All employees must adhere to the expectation of regular and punctual attendance.
- The Group Lead will address daily challenges to achieve production, safety, shipping, and quality objectives.
- The Group Lead will train, develop, and keep training records for employees while making suggestions for their advancement.
- Prepare reports on production, scrap, and rework.
- Contribute to disciplinary reports and performance evaluations, and may suggest merit increases.
- Carry out scheduled work orders to fulfill customer needs.
- As a group lead, you will lead pre-shift meetings and assign daily tasks.
- Track daily employee attendance and prepare payroll reports.
- Support the supervisor in investigating and reporting incidents/accidents.
- Ensure a safe working environment and implement the safety program for the designated area.
- Serve as the First Responder for the Plant.
- Working Group Leads must complete tasks within their designated areas (welding, assembly, small parts, paint, etc.).
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- **CANDIDATE MUST BE CAPABLE OF PASSING AN OPEN ROOT 3G MIG/FLUXCORE FILL IN CAP WELD TEST**
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or production setting is necessary.
- At least 3 years of relevant welding experience is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of prior experience in a group lead role required.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly preferred.
- Basic computer skills are required, specifically in MS Word and MS Excel; familiarity with Epicor is preferred.
- The ability to engage positively and professionally with management and colleagues to meet objectives is essential.
- Proven capability to support, promote, and comply with the Westerman philosophy and Code of Conduct is required.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills are necessary.
- Basic troubleshooting skills for production and personnel issues are required.
- First Aid/CPR Training and Emergency Response Training are mandatory.
- On-the-job training will be provided as necessary to improve safety, productivity, and troubleshooting abilities.
- A clean driving record is required.
