Our School
Westerly School is an independent, non-sectarian mixed gender Kindergarten through 8th grade school focused on whole child education. Through inquiry-based pedagogy and practices, Westerly School strives to recognize and meet the needs of every individual student to ignite within each child a lifelong love of learning as they discover their full and unique potential. Founded in 1991 by a group of parents who wanted to provide an alternative to the Long Beach Unified School District education, Westerly remains the only independent school in Long Beach. Westerly currently enrolls around 180 students.
Position Description
The Auxiliary Program Manager is a member of the Administrative Team and is responsible for the design, development, operations, and management of the extended day and summer programs at Westerly. The Program Manager serves as the central point of contact for programming outside the regular school day, serving as a resource and guide for families, faculty, staff, students and vendors to ensure a smooth flow of operations, paired with clear and timely communication. The Auxiliary Program Manager will report to the Assistant Head of School and will manage the Auxiliary Program Coordinator and a team of seasonal staff dedicated to delivering an exceptional experience after school and throughout the summer months.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Create a culture of trust, support, accountability, and growth within the auxiliary program teams
- Demonstrate sound judgment in handling confidential information and correspondence
- Cultivate a safe and productive learning environment that is equitable to all students
- Promote and exemplify responsible citizenship and respect for diversity, equity, and inclusivity
- Build strong partnerships and relationships with faculty members, parents, students, and the administrative team
- Onboard and lead a team of high performing staff and partners
- Ensure flawless execution of all auxiliary programs
- Authoring and maintaining an auxiliary program operating guide, detailing the internal practices and policies
- Weekly reporting to the Assistant Head of School on program successes and opportunities for growth
- Oversee the registration setup and enrollment process
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Head of School
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or similar
- Experience working with children in an educational setting
- Professional and collaborative demeanor with strong self-confidence and initiative
- Motivation to grow, and support others in their professional growth
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Operations and risk management minded
- Ability to establish rapport with families, children, and colleagues
Job Information
Job Type: Exempt Full-time
Monday – Friday 9:30am – 6pm (School year)
Monday – Friday 8am – 4:30pm (Summer)
Compensation package:
Pay range - $66,600 - $70,000 commensurate with skills and experience
