Lead Trainer

Job Summary:

• Schedule/Deliver training of current/new drivers
• Facilitate Annual recertification of Bus/Van Drivers
• To oversee daily safety of Bus/Van drivers, monitors and aides

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Director of Transportation, Student Safety Committee, elementary and secondary schools to continue programs for safety and security procedures for students on the buses
• Maintain State of RI compliance on all employees, keeping files updated
• Schedule training programs for the drivers, aides and monitors
• Follow the procedures and policies of the Westerly Public Schools and perform other duties required and assigned by the District Transportation Director

Qualifications:

• • Experience:
  • • 3 years experience as a bus driver (preferred)
    • Computer literate including data input
    • Extensive knowledge of motor vehicle laws.
    • Excelled interpersonal and customer service skills.
    • Excellent time management skills.

  Education:

• • • Must have a high school diploma, or equivalent.

• 
  Skills:

• • • Must hold a valid CDL license with a “P” and “S” endorsement
    • Must hold a valid RI SchoolBus Certificate (White Card)
    • Compliance with all applicable federal, state, county, district, and contract specific Bus Driver requirements.
    • A thorough knowledge of Federal/State rules and regulations, practices, procedures and terms; ability to gather information, maintain records and product reports; ability to exercise a high degree of initiative and good judgment

  Physical Requirements:

• • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Walk, climb stairs, bend and lift up to 45lbs.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting while operating the bus.
