What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary PT Medical Pathways- Technical Assistant position at Westerly Public Schools (RI)?
General Statement: Under the direction of the teacher, is responsible for assisting in the instruction in the classroom. The assistant will carry out a daily education program and develop an effective personal relationship with students. The position requires patience, empathy and flexibility on the part of the paraprofessional and includes assisting a teacher in various instructional duties and performing clerical duties, according to established procedures which can be learned on the job.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the classroom teacher by performing tasks which support the Medical Pathway Program.
- Assist in the instruction of students working individually or in small groups.
- May monitor student activities such as test-taking, Skills testing, study sessions, and field trips. Candidate should be willing to obtain RI Chauffeur's license.
- Distributes materials to students * Inventories supplies and materials and assists with ordering new/ replacement materials.
- May assist students with Special Needs
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications for Appointment: Qualifications to perform this job successfully, an individual must be a licensed EMT provider, and eligible for their Instructor Coordinator Certification through the RIDOH. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to be a Technical Assistant in the Medical Pathways program. Knowledge, skills and capabilities:

- Quantity: Meets industry standards as an EMT and/ or EMT Instructor Coordinator, and is able to complete tasks in a competent and timely manner; willing to assist with all aspects of the program.
- Safety and Security: Observes all safety and security procedures; adheres to RIDOH and NREMT guidelines as well as WPS policy and procedures for safety. Reports potentially unsafe conditions, uses equipment and materials properly.
- Attendance: Is consistent with maintaining per diem schedule and arrives to work on time and ready to work.
- Dependability: Follows instructions, responds to management direction, takes responsibility for own actions, keeps commitments, notifies CTE Director and Instructor in the event you are not able to meet commitment.

- Must have High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree in related field preferred
- Education or experience working with students in a Medical Pathways Program preferred
- Experience in Medical Pathways industry preferred
- Prefer three to six months of experience in a school environment providing support to students
