Position Summary:
This role will focus on inspecting, repairing, and perfecting the wood skeleton of new homes. You will fix framing issues after the main crew finishes. Your work ensures the home is straight, safe, and ready for inspectors, drywallers, and tradespeople.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- FIX WOOD FRAMING - Straighten bowed studs and fix unlevel walls. Repair structural flaws in floors, walls, and roofs
- ADJUST OPENINGS - Verify window and door rough openings match blueprints. Fix sizes so elements fit perfectly later.
- ADD BLOCKING - Install wood blocking for kitchen cabinets, bathroom fixtures, and drywall edges.
- PASS INSPECTIONS - Review the framing punch list. Fix missing nails, loose joists, or improper trusses to pass local building codes.
- REPAIR TRADE DAMAGE - Fix studs and plates that plumbers or electricians cut or drilled incorrectly.
- INSTALL FIRE STOPPING - Build required fire blocks in dead spaces and wall cavities.
Competencies & Skills:
- Rough Carpentry - Strong knowledge of residential wood framing and structural standards.
- Blueprint Reading - Ability to interpret architectural blueprints and layouts.
- Precision Leveling - Expert use of levels, squares, and laser lines.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of residential farming or rough carpentry experience.
- Tools - Must own standard framing tools, including a framing tool belt, nail gun, and cordless tools.
- Transportation - Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation to get you and your tools to and from the job site.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Moderate noise is typical for this work environment.
