Education

 

The qualified applicant must have completed at least a master’s degree in occupational therapy and hold a valid New York State License as Registered Occupational Therapist.

 

Experience

The qualified applicant will have completed a minimum of three (3) years of successful experience as an Occupational Therapist. Additionally. The qualified applicant will demonstrate significant understanding of the needs of Children with Special needs, their parents, and the professional staff working with them.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

Objectives:

 

To provide direct assistance to the coordinator in all areas of the Occupational Therapy program; to aid in the development and implementation of the school Occupational Therapy Program; to participate as a member of the Clinical Team to coordinate interdisciplinary efforts.

 

Specifications:

  • · The Lead OT will work under the direction of the OT Coordinator and will follow guidelines as provided.
  • · The Lead OT will assist with administrative and program needs as required and will assume a mandated service caseload ranging from half to full, depending on the needs of the school.
  • · To conduct screenings in order to determine developmental levels in the areas of perceptual motor, A.D.L., prevocational, musculoskeletal, sensory and sensorimotor functioning, and to recommend the need for and use of adaptive equipment.
  • · To determine treatment priorities, scheduling and procedures for providing therapy services.
  • · To conduct re-evaluations on each student receiving therapy according to the Commissioner’s Regulations or as recommended by the team and/or the child’s school district, and to provide written progress reports as required.
  • · To provide therapy services on an individual and/or small group basis according to the individual needs of the child.
  • · To maintain appropriate student records including but not limited to attendance, I.E.P. information, initiation and discharge summaries.
  • · To develop and supervise classroom therapeutic programs to be implemented by classroom staff and parents.
  • · To consult with school personnel regarding recommendations.
  • · To maintain and utilize evaluative and therapeutic materials necessary to conduct an Occupational Therapy Program.
  • · To participate in training programs within the school and conduct in-service programs and demonstration for students, staff and parents.
  • · To assist with ensuring that all mandated services are delivered in compliance with each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
  • · To represent the agency as assigned by the Executive Director. This representation may be inclusive of interactions with regulatory and legislative organizations.
  • · To supervise and conduct periodic observations and evaluate the performance of occupational therapy personnel and assist them in the achievement of their job objectives in accordance with program requirements.
  • · To supervise OTAs and COTAs as assigned.
  • · To assume responsibility for continued professional growth and development. This may include and is not limited to attendance at professional meetings, participation in study groups, membership in professional organizations, enrollment in advanced courses.
  • · To perform other duties that may be assigned or required by law and at the discretion of the Executive Director, and/or in accordance with regulation/board policy.

Salary : $90,000 - $100,000
