What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Habilitation Worker position at WESTCHESTER JEWISH COMMUNITY SERVICES?
Overview:
WJCS is seeking Community Habilitation Workers to join our POINT (Pursuing Our INdependence Together) team in White Plains. POINT supports adults, ages 21 and older, with developmental and learning disabilities, to live independently in apartments located throughout downtown White Plains. In this part-time (up to 20 hours per week) position, you will play a vital role in assisting individuals with developmental and learning disabilities. The rate is $25.00/hour.
Responsibilities:
As a valued member of our team, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Assisting in the development of individuals’ Community Habilitation Plans.
- Supporting individuals in achieving their chosen personalized outcomes and stated goals.
- Providing assistance, services and supports to promote independence in daily living activities within the residence.
- Facilitating the development of social skills through education, training, and role modeling.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
We are seeking candidates who possess the following qualifications:
- Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 6-12 months experience working with adults with developmental disabilities.
- Must have knowledge of basic residential services.
- Able to participate in, pass and maintain certification of WJCS required training that includes but may not be limited to Medication Administration, SCIP, CPR/First Aid, Driving the Van and Mandatory Training as identified by OPWDD.
