The College seeks applicants for a full-time tenure-track instructor position in the Department of Health, Human Performance, & Physical Education. The instructor will teach physical education activities courses, the American Heart Association Certification in First Aid/CPR/AED, and the lecture course Health & Fitness for Life. Instructors are expected to participate in student advisement, departmental and college activities, school committees, student clubs, and local professional organizations. The instructor will also remain active with professional development in their field.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS : The successful candidate must possess a minimum of one-year experience teaching Physical Education and meet one of the following educational requirements:
A Master's degree in Physical Education, or
A Bachelor's degree in Physical Education with a Master's Degree in a related field
The selected candidate must obtain the American Heart Association BLS Instructor Certification and hold a current AHA BLS Provider card by December 1. 2026. The candidate must demonstrate commitment to excellent teaching, and to the goals of Westchester Community College.
All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: It is preferred that the successful candidate possess:
Three years' experience in teaching Physical Education to undergraduate college students in classroom and field settings
Certification as an American Heart Association BLS Instructor and possess a current AHA BLS Provider card
Knowledge and experience in the following sports: basketball, tennis, badminton, golf, soccer, pickleball, volleyball, and ultimate frisbee
Proficient in the use of technology in instruction

POSITION EFFECTIVE: Fall 2026
SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary for the Instructor position is $75,170. Additional compensation with seniority steps maximize at a salary of $88,234. Further salary increases may be achieved through promotion to higher academic ranks. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, a choice of defined benefit and/or defined contribution pension plan, generous leave benefits, and access to tax sheltered annuities and a deferred compensation plan.
