Bookkeeper

POSITION SUMMARY:

Person in this position will be responsible for the bookkeeping needs of WestCare California. Essential Job Functions include those listed below.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Process vendor invoices for payment.
• Ensure all billings are directed to facility address for payment.
• Write checks and pay all expenses from separately maintained account.
• Maintain records and meet payroll.
• Maintain client personal funds/savings/trust accounts.
• Monitor expenses ensuring costs do not exceed contract maximum
• Liaison with WCSU regarding all financial matters.
• Prepare reports as needed.
• Respond to audit requests, corrective actions if necessary.
• Manage key control for the facility.
• Participate in daily shift exchange including documenting in facility log at the end of shifts and thoroughly reviewing log at the start of shifts.
• Code each invoice with the appropriate general ledger account number.
• Record each invoice in the purchases journal.
• Prepare checks for signature and attach invoices being paid.
• Maintain monthly accounts payable journal
• Prepare monthly invoices; to CDCR of program expenses
• Code and record in accounts receivable/income journal.
• Prepare and make bank deposits.
• Maintenance of all accounts receivable documents.
• Maintain correct general ledger numbers for each employee.
• Maintain organized filing system for the entire accounting department; Must Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision, and goals of WestCare Foundation; and
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCare’s vehicle insurance is required.
• CPR Certification, First Aid Certification, and an annual Tuberculosis test.

• During your tenure with WestCare there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Should this occur Human Resources or appropriate personnel will inform you.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• (2) Years of experience keeping or reviewing financial or statistical records.  Academic education above the 12^th grade may be substituted for one year of the required experience on the basis of either: (a) one year of general education equivalent to one year of work experience or (b) certification from a business or trade school equivalent to one year of work experience; or
• An Associate of Arts degree or higher and six months work experience.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

• Not applicable for this position.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Work is primarily performed in an office or in a residential treatment setting; and
• Some outdoor activities may be required.

Salary : $26 - $28
