Supervising Assistant for Special populations at WHES Essential Job Functions: Assist building administration and teaching staff in de-escalating students and families in crisisAssist building administrators and teaching staff in developing, implementing and monitoring student behavior plansCollects information from students, their parents, and other parties with the goal of problem solving conflicts as directed by the building principalAssists the building principal and building staff in implementing a positive school climate for all studentsCollects, records, and analyzes IEP student data related to attendance and disciplineCollaborates with the districts attendance office and outside agencies concerning student attendance and discipline Supervises students on a 1:1 basis, in small and large group situations(i.e. Transitions, breakfast program, lunch, behavior regulation resets, fire drills, etc. Participates in physical restraint procedures in conjunction with other building staff as requested by the building administrator/designee (including physical escort, full restraint, separating students engage in physical altercations) Participates in student meetings as requested by the building principal (i.e. IEP meetings, reinstatement meetings, parent conferences, etc)Communicates with parents by phone, in person, and in writing as requested by the building administratorPhysically monitors student behavior and interactions in school corridors, stair wells, school grounds, bathrooms, parking lot, play yard, and other spaces within the building Provides additional adult support to alternative district programs which service students with significant emotional and behavioral needs Engages students in conversations of a therapeutic nature in order to help them return to a calm, emotional stateWorks with Administrators, and the school clinical team to create and implement a reset and regulation routine for students assigned to Functional Academic and Intensive Inclusion classroomsModel effective implementation of specific student reset and regulation routines directly in classrooms for teachers, demonstrating best practices in real-time.
