Parks and Recreation/Chief Logan State Park Under limited supervision, this employee will be responsible for efficient management, operation, maintenance, and protection of Chief Logan State Park, a significantly developed state park, providing services and facilities to the public that includes a seventy-five room lodge, a conference center, full-service restaurant and lounge, three four-bedroom cottages, a campground, a museum, retail shops, fishing pond, outdoor pool with a waterslide, outdoor amphitheater, wildlife exhibit, picnic shelters, playgrounds, and several hiking and biking trails.
In addition, the superintendent of this area will oversee facilities that are privately operated through concession agreements including the Chief Logan Recreation Center.
This employee shall be required to exercise an extraordinary level of discretionary judgment, leadership, fiscal control, and initiative in ensuring that excellent hospitality and customer service is provided to all guests and visitors of the park through the planning and directing of facility programs for both the day-use and areas with overnight accommodations.
Employee shall oversee operations in the area of lodging and conference operations, food and beverage operations, retail operations, housekeeping, building maintenance, equipment maintenance, sewage treatment plant operations, grounds maintenance, sanitation, public relations, customer service, hospitality, public safety and law enforcement, personnel management, training, visitor activity programming, historical and nature interpretation conservation, preservation, federal and state regulatory compliance, accounting, recordkeeping, revenue production, budget preparation and control, and concession contract administration.
This individual may perform and coordinate all Law Enforcement duties and may be required to successfully complete Special Natural Resources Police Officer (SNRPO) training and pistol qualification requirements as established by the DNR Law Enforcement Section.
SNRPO trainees will be required to pass a one-time background investigation, pre-employment polygraph examination, psychiatric evaluation, and physical examination. Must be licensed or eligible to operate a motor vehicle.Park Superintendents must either reside in park-provided housing or if housing is not available onsite, must live within a specified distance and receive $1,000 a month in lieu of housing.
The employee shall be required to wear assigned uniforms and shall perform all related work as assigned. Park Superintendents may be assigned temporary short-term "off facility" responsibilities or special assignments away from Chief Logan State Park.May be assigned temporary or long-term supervision of satellite areas located within the region of the assigned area and shall be subject to on-call status.

Probationary period 1 year per SPB 2851 effective 06/27/2019.PG change per SPB 2851 effective 08/03/2019.Pay Differentials:
Park Superintendents who serve as Defensive Tactics Training Instructors in the Special Natural Resources Police Officer Program will receive a shift differential of $100 per month effective February 1, 2014 (SPB 2647).Park Superintendents who are not provided an on-park residence will receive a stipend of $1,000 per month in lieu of housing effective June 1, 2012 (SPB 2601).
