The Investigator plays a key role in enforcing state and federal civil rights laws by conducting thorough investigations into allegations of discrimination in employment and public accommodations throughout West Virginia. Primary Responsibilities:
- Investigate complaints of discrimination by gathering and analyzing relevant evidence in accordance with state and federal laws.
- Maintain consistent and professional communication with complainants, respondents, and other involved parties to ensure timely and accurate case development.
- Draft formal complaints and legal documents as part of the investigative process.
- Conduct discovery, including the collection of documents and information necessary to support findings.
- Interview witnesses both in-person and virtually to gather testimony and factual evidence.
- Analyze facts, apply relevant laws and regulations, and prepare clear, concise investigative reports with recommended findings.
- Submit regular progress updates and comprehensive weekly reports to supervisors.
- Attend unit and Commission meetings to collaborate on case strategies and updates.
- Participate in ongoing professional development, including specialized training sessions related to civil rights investigations and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) procedures.
