The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Division of Administrative Services (DAS) is seeking a highly organized and motivated professional to join our Human Resources Team as a Human Resources Generalist 1, operating within a fast-paced office environment, the core focus of this role centers on incentive programs, financial calculations, compliance auditing and supporting department-wide personnel operations. Due to the highly sensitive data handled, the successful candidate must exercise strict confidentiality regarding all employee information at all times.
Key Responsibilities
In this vital position supporting the Compensation and Retention Unit, you will:
- Incentive Program Support: Administer a highly complex and specialized pay plan and incentive program for the Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DCR), and other agencies, that fall under the Department of Homeland Security umbrella.
- Financial Calculations: Process precise pay and incentive calculations related to these specialized plans.
- Compliance Auditing: Perform regular, detailed audits of the various plans to ensure absolute compliance with all established guidelines.
- Personnel Operations: Support day-to-day administrative HR processes, offer daily direction and support to HR Managers and personnel throughout all department facilities.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google applications.
- Highly skilled in using spreadsheets, both designing and tracking.
- Strong mathematical skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Basic understanding of human resources and personnel principles.
- Highly motivated with the readiness to learn how to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.

Experience: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional human resources, payroll, bookkeeping or accounting experience.
