Role Description The Medical Director – Emergency Medicine is a full-time, on-site position located in Morgantown, WV. This role oversees clinical operations within the emergency department, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care and adherence to regulatory and institutional standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising and mentoring emergency medicine physicians and advanced practice professionals, coordinating patient flow, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including cardiology, neurology, and oncology, for complex cases. The Medical Director participates in quality improvement initiatives, develops clinical protocols, supports academic and research activities, and contributes to staffing, scheduling, and performance evaluations. This position also involves engaging with hospital leadership to enhance patient safety, operational efficiency, and the overall patient and learner experience.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Emergency Medicine and general Medicine, with a strong foundation in acute care.
- Clinical experience or familiarity with Cardiology in the emergency setting, including management of cardiac emergencies.
- Clinical experience or familiarity with Neurology in the emergency setting, including stroke and other neurologic emergencies.
- Clinical experience or familiarity with Oncology in the emergency setting, including care of patients with cancer-related complications.
- Proven ability in Working with Physicians and multidisciplinary clinical teams to coordinate and optimize patient care.
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution and completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Emergency Medicine or related specialty.
- Board certification (or eligibility) in Emergency Medicine and valid, unrestricted medical license (or eligibility) in West Virginia.
- Experience in clinical leadership, quality improvement, and development of protocols and guidelines.
- Strong communication, decision-making, and organizational skills, with a commitment to patient safety and continuous improvement.
- Interest in academic medicine, including teaching, mentoring, and participation in research or scholarly activities.
