Shift

Function/Summary
The Academic Laboratory Manager 3 Innovation Lab is responsible for coordinating and supporting the daily operations, instructional activities, workforce training initiatives, and community engagement efforts of Innovation Lab. The position develops and supports innovation-focused programming, provides instructional and technical training related to makerspace and manufacturing technologies and collaborates with faculty, workforce development personnel, business and industry partners, and community organizations to support student success and workforce readiness.
This position exercises independent judgement in coordinating laboratory operations, instructional support activities, scheduling priorities, safety procedures, equipment usage, and program implementation. The position supports institutional initiatives related to innovation, experiential learning, workforce development, STEAM, and emerging technologies,
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Required: Associates degree in business, entrepreneurship, engineering technology, manufacturing technology, education, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
- Required:
- Minimum three (3) years of progressively responsible experience related to laboratory operations, makerspace technologies, workforce training, instructional support, manufacturing technologies, or related technical/program operations.
- Preferred:
- Experience supporting instructional programming or workforce development activities.
- Experience with additive/subtractive manufacturing technologies, prototyping systems, CAD/CAM applications, or makerspace environments.
Licensure:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of innovation lab, makerspace, manufacturing, and instructional technologies.
- Familiarity with additive and subtractive manufacturing equipment including 3D printers, CNC equipment, electronics, and related software applications.

Duties/Responsibilities
35% Program Coordination and Innovation Lab Operations
- Coordinate daily operation of the Innovation Lab and related instructional spaces.
- Support implementation and continuous improvement of innovation-focused programming and initiatives.
- Coordinate scheduling, equipment usage, laboratory procedures, and operational priorities.
- Maintain operational procedures related to laboratory safety, equipment usage, materials and instructional supplies.
- Monitor laboratory environments to ensure compliance with institutional and safety standards.
- Recommend operational improvements and support strategic growth of Innovation Lab activities and services.
30% Instructional and Workforce Training Support
- Provide instructional support and technical training related to Innovation Lab technologies, software applications, equipment, and laboratory procedures.
- Support credit and non-credit instructional activities conducted within the Innovation Lab.
- Develop and facilitate workshops, demonstrations, camps, workforce training activities, and community education programming.
- Assist faculty, workforce instructors, students, and community participants during laboratory and experiential learning activities.
- Provide technical guidance and operational assistance related to laboratory technologies and equipment.
20% Partnership and Community Engagement
- Collaborate with faculty, workforce development personnel, business and industry representatives, K-12 partners, and community organizations to support Innovation Lab initiatives.
- Support outreach, recruitment, workforce engagement, and community education activities.
- Assist with evaluation, promotion, and continuous improvement of Innovation Lab programming and services.
- Coordinate participation of community and industry subject matter experts in Innovation Lab activities.
10 % Administrative and Institutional Support
- Maintain required documentation, records, reports, and operational materials.
- Attend institutional meetings, division meetings, training sessions and professional development activities.
- Remain current with emerging technologies and trends related to innovation, workforce training, manufacturing technologies, and experiential learning.
5% General Institutional Support
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support departmental operations, institutional initiatives, special projects, events, and operational needs consistent with the scope and classification of the position.
