What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Coordinator – State Library – 10/24/2025 position at West Virginia Tourism Office?
The West Virginia Department of Tourism’s Library section seeks an Accounting Coordinator to assist on the Finance team. This individual would serve as the Library section’s procurement officer and assist with accounting functions related to the State Library section. The position reports to Tourism’s Accounting Supervisor.
Sample Duties
- Preparing, processing, and managing Requests for Quotations and Requests for Proposals
- Processing employee requests for goods and services and placing orders, as needed
- Ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and regulations
- Contracting and communication with vendors and potential vendors to ensure compliance, deliveries and all other relations needed
- Requisition and purchase order management
- Other accounting and administrative duties, as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures
- Ability to take ownership of projects and meet deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively with different teams and independently
- Ability to work in fast fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Ability to travel occasionally for conferences and seminars
- Ability to multitask and stay organized
- Experience and/or interest in learning new data tools and software
- Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and the Google suite of products
- Proficiency in/or interest in learning wvOASIS
The successful candidate will have experience in accounting and be willing to work in a fast-paced environment. Procurement experience is not required but highly preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with an associate’s degree or further education.
This job opportunity is not in the classified service and is not covered under the Administrative Rule of the WV Division of Personnel. This position is located at the capitol complex in Charleston and works full-time, regular business hours. It has competitive pay and benefits. Remote work is not permitted. Limited travel required.
