What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Practical Nurse - (Welch Hospital) position at West Virginia Department of Health Facilities?
General Description - Performs the primary functions of a Licensed Practical Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating all assigned patient care in collaboration with an RN on the unit. Is accountable for all patient care and advanced ECG monitoring of patient status through assessment of ECG strips and arrhythmia interpretation. Responsible for adhering to all standards of nursing practice, for managing supplies and equipment with the direction of an RN in charge of the unit, and for promoting teamwork with physicians, and personnel of other departments. Has a thorough knowledge of growth and development, nursing principles (relative to physical and psychosocial), procedures, skills, and techniques, and understanding of ongoing internal relationships as they relate to Licensed Practical Nursing. Mandatory overtime is an essential job function of this position.
Applicants selected for employment must successfully complete a criminal background check and a chemical urinalysis and breath analysis drug screening test. All employees shall be subject to drug testing for probable causes, as set forth in agency and bureau policies. Welch Community Hospital is a tobacco free facility.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: None.
- Licensure/Certifications: Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse from the West Virginia State Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses.
