PROFESSIONAL TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION FOR WHICH SUBSTITUTE, AS NEEDED, WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE:
The classroom teacher is a professional educator who has a direct instructional relationship with students and who spends the majority of his or her time in this capacity.
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
- Plan and implement West Virginia Content Standards and Objectives
- Plan and implement personalized learning for all students
- Plan and implement a collaborative model with special education students and teachers
- Implement adopted and supplemental academic programs
- Implement 21st Century technology skills
- Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided
- Prepare for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor
- Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved
- Strive to implement by instruction and action the school's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives
- Exercise all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Evaluate and monitor student progress on a regular basis
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
- Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy
- Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings
- Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods
- Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials
- Plan and implement designated co-curricular activities and/or programs such as curricular fairs, awards programs, and field trips as assigned
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students
- Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others
- Provide for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning
- Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives and provides for appropriate time on task
- Maintain professional work habits
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as set forth in Greenbrier County Board of Education Policy and as directed by immediate supervisor, building principal, or superintendent of schools

5.1 The teacher participates in school-wide collaborative efforts to support the success of all students
5.2 The teacher works with parents, guardians, families, and community entities to support student learning and well-being

Physical Demands:
