- Assist special education teachers in implementing instructional activities and accommodations aligned with students’ IEPs.
- Provide one-on-one or small-group academic support as directed by the supervising teacher.
- Assist students with personal care needs, including mobility, toileting, feeding, and hygiene when required.
- Support positive behavior interventions and help manage student behavior using approved strategies.
- Monitor student progress and report observations to the supervising teacher.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with FERPA and school policy.
- Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and other school environments as assigned.
- Assist students with disabilities during transportation to and from school and school-related activities.
- Ensure students are properly seated and secured during transport.
- Support safe loading and unloading of students, including those using mobility devices.
- Monitor student behavior on the bus and assist the driver in maintaining a safe environment.
- Communicate concerns or incidents to appropriate school personnel.
- Follow all transportation safety procedures and emergency protocols.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Meets state and county requirements for service personnel employment.
- Experience working with children, particularly students with disabilities, preferred.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Must pass required background checks and training.
- Ability to lift, position, or assist students as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods.
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
- Hours and schedule determined by student needs and transportation assignments.
- May include split shifts (school day and bus route times).
- Works under the direction of a certified special education teacher and school administration.
- During transportation, works under the supervision of the Transportation Department and bus driver.
