- PreK Special Needs Itinerant Teacher(Home Based and Center Based including Kids Learning Center and Early Head Start.)
Job Description: - Successful applicant will complete all designee assignments for PreK Special Education Programming.
- Provide instruction for Pre-K students.
- Serve as a liaison and initial point of contact between the Board Office and Birth to Three coordinators, school administration, staff, and families regarding PreK Special Education needs and requirements. Ensure communication with PreK staff.
- Participate in transition meetings with Birth to Three and facilitate the enrollment process.
- Coordinate the EC process within the school, including preparation for, attendance at, and facilitation of initial eligibility meetings for PreK and triennial review meetings as assigned by the director.
- Write and implement IEP's for students in Pre-K.
- Complete and send home progress reports.
- Administer and score assessments such as the Battelle Developmental Inventory.
- Ensure IEPs are completed before the child's 3rd birthday.
- Ensure compliance with all provisions of Policy 2419 and IDEA Transition Procedures from Part C to Part B services.
- Serve as a communication link between providers and PreK teachers.
- Maintain the confidential materials and records of students receiving special education services.
- Ensure that completed paperwork is sent to the Central Office Department of Special Education in a timely manner.
- Responsible for Pre-K SAT meetings throughout the county.
- Facilitate the distribution and collection of special education information as needed.
- Assist with PreK to Kindergarten transitions.
- Responsible for referrals from Pre-K to K when referring for a different exceptionality
- Conduct student observations when assigned by the director.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or the Director of Special Education.
- Responsible for implementing adopted and supplemental academic programs.
- Responsible for implementing technology skills.
- Responsible for planning and implementing teams teaching as appropriate.
- Be accountable for individual student achievement.
- Strong working/communication skills with students, parents/guardians and peers.
- Willing to implement any other programs designated by principal for school improvement.
- Includes supervisory and/or other duties as assigned by Principal.
- Valid WV teaching certificate in special education required with appropriate certificate to cover grades Pre-K to K.
- Administration endorsement preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of Policy 2419.
- Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience required.
- Minimum of three years of successful special education teaching experience in WV preferred.
- August 17, 2026, for the 2026-2027 school year
- Base Salary $43,815 with a bachelor's degree. Salary based on experience and education level per Monroe County BOE salary schedule plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation. (200 Day Employee)

As a result, the Legislature intends to minimize personnel transfers between professional positions within the 20 days preceding the start of the instructional term. However, the county board, based on the superintendent's recommendation, may approve filling a position during this period if it is deemed to serve the best interest of the students.
