Behavioral Interventionist, up to 130 total days each during the 2025-
2026 school year, $200 per day, pending certification - New Beginnings
Academy, Central Office
Job Summary:
1. Establishes relationships and communicates with teachers, administrators
and family members
2. Identifies and seeks resolution for potential problems arising with any involved
parties and attends required meetings that discuss behavior
3. Works efficiently and effectively, both individually and as part of a team
4. Reports immediately any suspected incidents of child abuse or neglect to the
Child Abuse Hotline
5. Exhibits ability and willingness to think "outside the box"
6. Remains dedicated to the success of children and family teams
7. Complies with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of
Education, and local board policy in the areas of assessment, placement,
and delivery of special education services
8. Participates in professional development activities to improve skills related to
job assignment
9. Maintains positive relations with the building administration, parents, other
staff, and students in the buildings
10. Collaborates with the school and classroom leadership team to ensure all
students promote social, emotional learning
Qualifications:
1. A valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate, Licensure, and/or Both
2. Demonstrates qualifications further detailed in job description
3. If a fully certified candidate does not apply, those eligible for a permit will be considered. Applicant must provide documentation from the college showing their eligibility
4. Training in CPI, ECPBIS, SWPBIS, Capturing Kids Hearts, APL, Special Education, and/or Classroom Management is preferred
Working Conditions:
1. Be able to impart information and orally communicate with students, families
and others
2. Be able to understand and respond to oral communications and directions
3. Be able to read, write, understand and respond to written instructions, communications and materials
4. When supervising a group of students, have the capacity to ensure the safety
of, observe, supervise and assess all situations involving a student, a group
of students and co-workers
5. For Elementary, K and PreK: Must have mobility, strength, and dexterity to be
able to lift a student weighing up to 40 pounds, interact at each student's
maturity level and size, and retrieve students who wander and/or run from the
group
