Behavioral and Mental Health Support
- Implement evidence-based behavior management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
- Collaborate with counselors, social workers, and behavior specialists to develop and monitor individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
- Conduct regular progress monitoring and make data-driven adjustments to interventions.

Classroom Environment
- Establish a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom culture that fosters trust, respect, and positive relationships.
- Maintain a structured and predictable environment that minimizes triggers and distractions.

Collaboration and Communication
- Partner with parents/guardians, administrators, and mental health professionals to develop holistic support plans for students.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 plan reviews, to advocate for student needs.
- Provide regular updates to families and team members regarding student progress and challenges.

Job Description
Qualifications
Certification in elementary education required; special education certification preferred. If a fully certified teacher is not available, a teacher eligible for a permit will be considered. Anyone employed with a permit must commit to take a minimum of six (6) hours toward certification and remain in the position for the 2026-2027 School Year.

Compensation
Salary based on experience and education level per Clay County Board of Education Salary Schedule, plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
