As Director of the International Division of the West Virginia Division of Economic Development, you’ll lead the strategy to attract world-class companies, strengthen our export base, and tell West Virginia’s exciting story across global markets.
Your Mission Includes:
Attract and close foreign direct investment deals that create jobs and expand West Virginia’s global footprint.
Lead a high-performing team of international trade and investment professionals, guiding them to identify new markets and build strong pipelines of opportunity.
Engage at the highest levels from C-suite executives to government leaders.
Champion West Virginia’s story abroad through trade missions, conferences, and direct investment outreach.
Represent West Virginia’s international intentions on various industry boards, councils, and organizations and through well-organized communication and marketing materials.
Support and grow existing international investors and help West Virginia businesses expand exports to new markets.
Advise senior leadership with data-driven insights, market intelligence, and actionable strategies.
Who You Are
You’re a connector, strategist, and dealmaker with global instincts and a passion for impact. You’ve led economic development and/or international business development initiatives and know how to turn strategy into measurable growth. You thrive in dynamic, cross-sector environments, and you’re ready to accelerate West Virginia as a global investment destination and an export powerhouse.
Qualifications
8–10 years in investment attraction or global business development.
Proven ability to build international partnerships, close deals, and lead teams.
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
Excellent communicator with cultural fluency and executive presence.
Willingness to travel internationally as an ambassador for the state.
Salary commensurate with experience
