GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
West Valley Community Services is a nonprofit organization that has been providing safety net services to low-income and homeless individuals and families in the West Valley region of Santa Clara County for more than 52 years. The mission of West Valley Community Services is to unite the community to fight hunger and homelessness. West Valley Community Services is currently hiring a Front Desk Associate who is responsible for operating, maintaining, and executing all responsibilities related to the reception desk.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate and oversee all functions related to the reception desk, including answering phones, handling the lottery process, assisting clients, checking clients in, and performing data entry.
- Follow daily front desk opening procedures.
- Ensure the front desk is ready for all operations promptly at the beginning of each shift.
- Ensure the front desk and lobby are clean and organized at the beginning and end of each shift and throughout the day.
- Greet volunteers, visitors, donors, and clients with a professional and welcoming attitude.
- Assist clients with immediate questions and issues, and work with the Triage system.
- Accept and direct incoming phone calls and direct calls as needed.
- Receive and process monetary donations and checks.
- Welcome, train, and support reception volunteers.
- Check client information in Salesforce.
- Make sure that all printed marketing materials, i.e., agency brochures and business cards, are current.
- Report maintenance issues to the Resident Manager, as needed.
- Support the Food Market as needed.
Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in individual and group settings.
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and/or with language barriers. Bilingual is highly desirable. Ability to use technology to communicate to overcome the language barrier is desired.
- Strong customer service skills, compassionate, and able to set boundaries
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office applications and Google Workspace, are required. Experience with Salesforce or any CRM system is a plus.
- Ability to embrace WVCS’ mission to provide basic human needs with compassion and in a dignified environment.
- Valid California driver’s license/ID and insured automobile preferred.

Salary Range:
- $24.95-$27.88/hour ($51,896-$57,990/year), paid semi-monthly
Job Type:
- Full-time, Non-Exempt, Permanent (40 hours per week)
Schedule:
- Standard 8-hour day shift.
- Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm & occasional evenings and weekends
