Summary:
Responsible for operation and financial wellness of City Golf Course assigned including Golf Professionals and Food and Beverage Manager at the course. Assist in supervision of the Superintendent. Provide technical and managerial operation and supervision of facilities and activities to promote golfing and Food and Beverage activities. This is an appointed, at-will position.
The selected candidate will be assigned to either The Ridge Golf Course or Stonebridge Golf Course.
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, on-call for holidays and weekends
Starting Pay: $82,620 - $90,274 per year, additional pay depending on experience.
FLSA Status: Exempt

Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage assigned facility and activities in golf shop and on golf course. Promote and market the game as needed in accordance with current trends.
- Oversee management of assigned business transactions, accounting, inventory, purchasing, budgeting and effectively maintaining public relations by representation of City golf activities in dealing with the public.
- Train, supervise, evaluate, discipline employees and assign work schedules to ensure the course runs smoothly and provides excellent customer service.
- Structure, supervise and enforce golf course play policy and procedures.
- Provide and coordinate golf lessons and instruction using properly trained and experienced staff.
- Effectively market Golf Courses for optimal usage.
- Develop and maintain accurate records and reports to track and improve the performance of the course.
- Communicate with supervisors, staff and public, orally and in writing to ensure efficient operation of the course.
- Work with Golf Course Superintendent and Food and Beverage Manager.
- Work as an equal team member with the Golf Course Superintendent and others.
- Understand care and maintenance of greens and fairways. Become familiar with agronomy practices of maintaining greens and other grass areas.
- Understand Food and Beverage operation and practices to ensure high quality food and service are consistent and its operation profitable.
- Attend meetings and perform such duties as required and assigned.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises employees in assigned golf course, Food and Beverage Manager, and assists in supervising Superintendent.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge in recreational management and maintenance.
- Knowledge of U.S.G.A rules, handicap, course rating system and the mechanics of golf.
- Ability to function and perform effectively.
- Ability to coordinate and expedite golf activities, such as tournaments.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with golf course staff and the public, maintain a congenial rapport with all those he/she comes in contact with.
- Skill in planning and assigning work schedules and jobs.
- Ability to keep accurate records, suggest and follow a budget; act independently and make sound judgments; process and balance cash receipts within the guidelines of the Finance Department.
Education and/or Experience:
- Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent,
- Bachelor's degree in recreation management, business management, or related field preferred.
- Five years' experience as a Head Golf Professional or Assistant to a Golf Professional.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Language Skills:
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Must possess a valid Utah Driver's License or have the ability to obtain a valid Utah Driver's License within 30 days of hire.
- PGA certification preferred.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit and use hands and arms; talk or hear.
- The employee is required to climb or balance.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities include peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
- A combination of office and course work. Ability to move around easily on the golf course.
- Intermittent exposure to heat, cold, wind, dust, and wet conditions are typical of a golf course.
- Intermittent exposure to stress as a result of human behavior. Willingness and ability to work evenings or weekends to meet schedules and deadlines.
