West Texas Centers is seeking a compassionate and motivated Opioid Peer Provider to support individuals impacted by Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). This role relies on lived recovery and justice-involved experience to provide peer support, outreach, education, and linkage to services. The Peer will work in school districts and community settings to promote harm reduction, reduce stigma, and increase access to treatment and recovery supports. This position collaborates with treatment providers, school staff, families, and community partners.

Starting Pay: $13.34

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Peer Support & Recovery Services

  • Provide one-on-one peer support, mentoring, and recovery coaching.

  • Use lived experience appropriately to instill hope and model recovery.

  • Assist individuals with recovery planning, strengths identification, and service linkage.

  • Educate on harm reduction, overdose prevention, and proper use of Narcan.

  • Help clients navigate common barriers such as transportation, stigma, and limited support.

School District Outreach

  • Provide opioid awareness and prevention education to students, staff, and families.

  • Facilitate age-appropriate groups, presentations, and classroom activities.

  • Serve as a liaison between schools, families, and community recovery resources.

  • Participate in crisis response for students at risk of substance use.

  • Support parent engagement through meetings, events, and resource fairs.

Community Outreach

  • Conduct outreach to community organizations, shelters, youth programs, and public spaces.

  • Distribute educational materials and strengthen community partnerships.

  • Participate in health fairs, community events, and harm-reduction activities.

  • Link individuals to treatment, recovery supports, and local resources.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete accurate, timely documentation in accordance with agency and state guidelines.

  • Track outreach activities, engagement, and participant progress.

  • Maintain confidentiality under HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. 

Position Requirements:

Lived experience in mental health recovery to assist other adults in their mental health recovery.

Must be 18 years old

High School Diploma or GED

Travel and the use of a personal vehicle are required.

Must have a valid Texas Driver License and an acceptable driving record

Must pass background check and drug screening
