Job Description Summary:

Under the daily direction and oversight of the Satellite Clinic's medical provider (MD, FNP, or PNP), and the administrative supervision of the Program and Administrative Managers, the Satellite Clinic Tech for the mobile Satellite Clinic will work in collaboration with all members of the Satellite Clinic staff team to offer high quality and compassionate integrated healthcare to clients and patients served by the clinic. These responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting in client and patient care duties, clerical duties, environmental duties, and other tasks at the direction of the medical provider to assist the medical provider as well as at the direction of Program and Administrative managers to ensure smooth program and RV operation. Responsibilities also include the collaborative effort of all staff on the mobile Satellite Clinic to ensure safe operation, maintenance, cleanliness, and storage of the unit.

The Satellite Clinic Tech for the mobile Satellite Clinic will serve the equivalent of thirty-six (36) to forty (40) hours per week including both travel to and from as well as clinic operation time each day Monday-Friday.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Performs functions with clients and staff in gender-, spiritually-, economically- and culturally-responsive, trauma-informed, humble, kind, and competent ways

• Follows HIPAA guidelines and maintains the highest level of confidentiality and privacy at all times when dealing with client information, paying special attention to any additional risks present when using telehealth software and programming

• Completes all appropriate documentation in a timely manner with correct and appropriate tone, grammar, and syntax

• Collaborates effectively with clients, outside agency personnel, family members, and internal agency personnel including but not limited to supervisors, therapists, physicians, nurses, case managers, and certified peers to ensure quality and continuity of care

• Participates in staffing, education, and/or supervision as scheduled, engages in quality assurance and improvement as needed, and displays evidence of the value of lifelong learning as related to best practices in client care

• Exhibits the interpersonal skills needed to respond swiftly with a service-recovery mindset when listening to, investigating, and addressing client questions, concerns, and complaints with specific attention given to ensuring clients know their concerns are taken seriously while also maintaining the integrity and professionalism of the staff and organization about whom the concerns are related

• Participates in ensuring that any services offered via telehealth in some capacity are equitable in quality, safety, confidentiality, and appropriateness as if those same services were offered face-to-face

• Fulfills client and patient care duties including but not limited to scheduling and organizing client and patient flow, accompanying patients to consult rooms, bathrooms, and in and out of clinic or office as necessary, assisting clients and patients as needed with walking, dressing, collecting specimens, drawing labs, administering injections, completing paperwork, other tasks as directed by the medical provider

• Provides medical provider and/or other licensed nursing staff assistance with various procedures as directed by the medical provider including but not limited to charting, relaying instructions to clients and patients, answering phone calls and relaying messages, communicating with and resolving pharmacy and prescription questions and needs, and providing pertinent information

• Fulfills clerical duties including but not limited to sending and receiving medical records, completing patient referrals for diagnostic tests or specialist services, completing forms, patient assistance applications, and other requisitions as needed, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage and collecting needed documentation for and applying client grant assistance as needed, entering patient demographics and information, and managing client medical record information to ensure complete and appropriate filing

• Fulfills environmental duties including but not limited to cleaning consult/exam rooms, sanitizing instruments, equipment, and surroundings as dictated by agency and system infection control policies, sterilizing, testing, and performing maintenance on items as required or indicated, maintaining effective inventory and organized storage of supplies and consult/exam rooms by ordering, organizing, and restocking

• Responds appropriately to codes, including but not limited to medical emergencies, initiates CPR or appropriate action, and notifies authorized personnel in compliance with all agency and system policies and procedures

• Works collaboratively with all members of the mobile Satellite Clinic staff team to ensure as a shared responsibility that all preparatory, travel, set-up, operations, tear-down, and lock-up maintenance, inspection, and operation tasks are completed consistently and appropriately, completing check-out, operation, and check-in activities and documentation for the mobile clinic and its vehicle(s) which may include but are not limited to filling with gas, driving, parking, monitoring and scheduling maintenance appointments for battery/generator/oil, cleaning, flushing, and filling water tanks, etc.

• Completes other activities or responsibilities as needed per supervisor or agency including but not limited to cross-training with and offering support for other departments

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

• High School Diploma required

• Some college or technical school experience preferred

LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION

• BLS and CPR certification must be obtained within the orientation period, and certification must be kept current while in this position

• Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to be granted driving privileges of company vehicles by West Tennessee Healthcare

• Must obtain and maintain certification in therapeutic, non-violence crisis de-escalation and intervention as designated by the agency within the 90-day orientation period

• Any additional certification or training as requested by the supervisor or Agency

EXPERIENCE:

• One year of work experience in the behavioral health, substance use treatment, or medical treatment field preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Exhibits proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

• Exhibits capacity to learn and utilize electronic medical records and other online software programs quickly and effectively

• Demonstrates professional written, verbal, and nonverbal communication

• Demonstrates ability to set priorities for tasks, to work effectively under minimal supervision, exceptionally organized, described by others as a self-starter, reliable, dependable, and motivated

• Demonstrates eagerness and ease in learning and implementing new technologies, strategies, and interventions

INTERPERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with clients and family members as well as all levels and facets of agency personnel

• Contributes to a positive work environment and the overall team effort of the mobile Satellite Clinic, Pathways, and West Tennessee Healthcare as a whole

• Flexible and innovative, exhibiting the initiative to function with limited supervision

• Addresses interpersonal conflict concerning colleagues or supervisors with humility, respect, and frankness, and follows the chain of command when needed to resolve issues effectively and timely

• Willingness to view all aspects of the planning, operation, and maintenance of the mobile clinic vehicle as an essential and fundamental part of their responsibilities

• Ability to work well under pressure

DIRECTION/SUPERVISION REQUIREMENTS:

• Completes other activities or responsibilities as needed per supervisor or agency including but not limited to cross-training with and offering support for other departments

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Able to perform various physical demands of the job that help deliver services to program recipients and the agency. Physical demands include but are not limited to prolonged standing, sitting, walking, driving, climbing stairs, lifting/carrying objects, etc.

• Able to safely operate, drive, park, set up, tear down, and store the mobile clinic vehicle

• Able to use nonviolent, crisis-de-escalation training to effectively deescalate and safely restrain an individual if needed

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

• Possible exposure to contagious disease

• Continuous exposure to human waste, specimens, blood, wounds, soiled linen, and needles

• Prepared to travel throughout the agency’s catchment area and offer services within the confines of a mobile clinic, understanding and committing to ensuring the highest quality of care in this mobile clinic environment

• Has daily interactions with clients who are mentally ill, seriously emotionally disturbed and/or chemically dependent who, due to their impairment, are at high risk for labile, volatile and/or unpredictable behavior
