Job Description Summary:

Assist the Central Service Manager with the planning, organizing, and coordinating of the distribution of materials and equipment process. Responsible for supervising and monitoring the activities of the Central Services Staff. Under the general supervision of the Central Service Manager, the position requires direct management of Central Services 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, indirect management 16 hours a day, 7 days a week. Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Coordinates the ordering, receiving and the distribution of all medical and non-medical supplies for patient care.
• Monitors daily staffing and adjust or reschedules as needed.
• Monitors daily schedules and work assignments in the absence of the manager.
• Develops and maintains a positive work environment and promotes a team approach.
• Serves as a back up to all positions.
• Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe environment in assigned area.
• Responds to any concern nursing areas in an efficient and courteous manner.
• Identifies problems/issues, conducts investigations, and takes corrective action in the absence of the manager.
• Responds and communicates well with co-workers, nursing staff and department while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Extensive data entry, word, excel.
• Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

• Associates Degree required or equivalent job-related experience.

LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:

• N/A

EXPERIENCE:

• Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures. Ability to perform management procedures acquired through 5-10 years departmental experience in central stores or related field, preferred.
• Proficiency with Pro-click or similar automated inventory management software.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Proficiency with Windows based computer applications.
• Must possess automated materials management inventory control systems skills.
• Must possess excellent organizational and analytical abilities.
