What you can expect as an Avionics Maintenance Technician at West Star:
Our Avionics Maintenance Technicians are responsible for troubleshooting and repairing problems to the component level on avionics units (i.e., Navs, Coms, Pulse, Radar, Audio, and Autopilot Systems), as well as the aircraft systems.
You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS, including:
- Perform general avionics support items on aircraft. This shall include, but not be limited to, items such as removal and installation of panels and components, and repair work.
- Troubleshooting and evaluation of systems on the aircraft when designated.
- Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components when designated.
- Aircraft movement and performance verification of systems.
- Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment, and tooling to support operations.
- Work with customers in project management, pricing, and customer support roles.
- Work independently on projects.
- Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
- Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
- Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases
Qualifications:
What you’ll need to bring with you:
Your Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent
Electronics or avionics factory training is preferred
A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal but not mandatory.
Your Experience:
1 years of experience in Avionics repair or installation is preferred.
Your Initiative:
We’re looking for team players who are self-motivated and capable of performing in a fast-paced environment, where working under specific deadlines and time constraints is common. The role requires regular interaction with customers and the ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
Your Sense of Responsibility:
Attend work every day as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments.
Notify the supervisor in advance of shift start if unable to work.
Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
Follow all company and safety rules during the performance of duties.
Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Frequent walking, bending, squatting, and sitting as part of daily tasks
Repetitive physical movements involving arms and hands
Prolonged periods of standing
Capability to climb ladders and stairs, and work in confined or restricted spaces
Proficiency in basic computer operation
Mental Requirements
Demonstrate understanding and implementation of applicable regulations and guidelines
Troubleshoot, evaluate, and conduct functional tests on various avionics and instrument systems
Collaborate professionally with team members and other personnel
Supervision
Work under the supervision of the assigned Avionics Team Leader
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a hangar setting, where temperatures may range from extremely cold to extremely hot.
Outdoor work is required during aircraft engine runs and related operations.
Tasks involve working in diverse positions both inside and around the aircraft.

Mechanic-provided personal hand tools
Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric-powered equipment
Vehicle support systems, including jacks, stands, and lifts
Engine-driven machinery such as tugs and power carts
Electrical tools, including crimpers, soldering irons, and heat guns
Personal computer and printed work orders
