What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Needs Child Care Staff position at West St. Paul-Mendota Heights-Eagan Area Schools (ISD 197)?

Your Role Will Include:
- Assist in the implementation and preparation of curriculum and enrichment activities for students
- Assist in guiding children’s behavior using a positive and consistent style
- Ability to implement emergency procedures.
- Participate with children in activities.
Qualifications:
- Two or more years of post-secondary training in education or a related field or passing the ParaPro assessment.
- Experience working with children with special needs.
- Experience with children with high needs in group situations, good communication skills, high degree of flexibility.
- Experience working with children of diverse economic, social, and cultural backgrounds.
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to pass a background check.
Salary and Benefits:
- Competitive pay, starting at $23.21-$24.91 per hour.
- The position will start on August 25, 2025. Applicants must be able to work 8:00 am-4:00 pm, Aug. 25-29, 2025 for staff development and site set up.
- September 2nd is the first day that will be onsite with SAC participants.
- Strong support network with ongoing staff development and a team environment.
Location & Shift Times:
- Garlough Elementary, Mendota Elementary, Moreland Elementary, Pilot Knob Elementary, Somerset Elementary. Monday - Friday.
- 6:30-7:30 am, 1 hour per day/5 hours per week.
- 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm, 4 hours per day/20 hours per week.
- 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm, 3 hours per day/15 hours per week.
- 2:00 pm - 5:30 pm, 3.5 hours per day/17.50 hours per week.
- Heritage Middle School, Monday – Friday, 6:30-8:30 am.
- Friendly Hills Middle School, Monday – Friday, 6:30-8:30 am.
- The Noreen Center, Monday – Friday.
- 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm, 3 hours per day/15 hours per week.
- 3:15 pm - 5:30 pm, 2.25 hours per day/11.25 hours per week.
- 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm, 2 hours per day/10 hours per week.
