Your Role As a Veterinary Assistant Level II, you’ll support veterinarians and technicians in delivering high-quality patient care while helping keep the hospital running smoothly.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with appointments, triage patients, and support urgent cases
- Collect TPRs and provide appropriate animal care and husbandry
- Safely restrain patients using Cat Friendly and Fear Free principles when possible
- Administer SQ and IM injections and assist with basic nursing care
- Place peripheral IV catheters and assist with fluid therapy and oxygen setup
- Assist with bandage placement under DVM direction
- Support laboratory testing, including in-house diagnostics and outside lab sample preparation
- Assist with phlebotomy, urine collection, radiographs, and basic diagnostics
- Fill prescriptions, perform medication calculations, and assist with controlled drug logs
- Communicate compassionately with clients in person, by phone, text, and email
- Maintain accurate medical and financial records in the practice management system
- Keep treatment areas clean, stocked, and organized
- Follow OSHA, safety, and infection control protocols
What We’re Looking For
- Two years of veterinary assistant experience (required)
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Certified Veterinary Assistant certificate preferred
- Strong multitasking and prioritization skills
- Ability to follow medical instructions with attention to detail
- Calm, compassionate demeanor in stressful or emotional situations
- Positive attitude and emphasis of shared success
- Enjoys working in an energetic, collaborative clinical environment
