The West Seattle Community Orchestras (WSCO) is a thriving and growing community arts non-profit organization seeking a new Orchestra CoManager.
The ideal candidate for this part-time position would be able to assume the responsibility for the general operations of a multi-group, 250 musician, board-run organization.
Including but not limited to the following tasks:
- Coordinate registration and auditions for each session.
- Create ensemble rosters for each session.
- Collaborate with VP and Conductors to create season schedule.
- Send Out Weekly Announcements to the Members (digital).
- Coordinate sectionals staff (reiterate assignments, locations, etc.).
- Attend all monthly Board meetings (Generally the last Wednesday of the month, on Zoom).
- Handle all incoming email inquiries.
- Serve on various committees as they arise.
Audition Nights
- Create audition schedules.
- Handle schedule posting for rooms.
- Handle distribution of rubrics to judges.
Concert Nights - coordinate with co-manager to cover:
- Create concert programs.
- Ensure Rooms, Bathrooms, Stage, Auditorium, Commons, and Lobbies are set up.
- Guide musicians to proper rooms.
WSCO uses a number of digital platforms to achieve communication with our members, handle registration, etc., so comfort in the digital world is of utmost importance.
The pay for this position is $28 per hour. Average hours tend to vary with the time of year, where September tends to be very busy with registration, while other months may not be so much. Over a year, one can expect an average of 16 hours per month. Other duties that may fall outside these hours will be paid accordingly. The successful candidate should attend our Tuesday rehearsals for at least a few weeks to learn who we are and to meet with their co-manager to learn what they will need to do. After that, they are free to work outside of rehearsal evenings.
This is a part-time position, and at this time it is not expected to expand. The successful candidate will work closely with their co-manager. It could be an ideal opportunity for someone considering the field of Arts Management, or someone wishing to be involved in such an Orchestral organization.
