Senior Staff Electrical Engineer
The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Electrical Engineer to lead the research, design, and development of advanced sensing and detection systems. This role blends deep technical expertise with hands-on engineering and cross-functional collaboration across electronics, physics, and signal processing.
The ideal candidate will serve as a technical leader and innovation driver, helping translate early-stage concepts into practical, high-performance products through iterative development and rapid learning cycles.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Act as a subject matter expert in advanced sensing technologies and low-noise electronic design
- Lead system architecture development from concept through validation
- Define performance targets, system requirements, and engineering tradeoffs
- Guide teams in solving complex measurement and detection challenges
Research & Innovation
- Explore and develop new approaches for detecting and processing low-level signals
- Improve system performance through electrical, algorithmic, and system-level techniques
- Stay current with emerging technologies in sensing, electronics, and instrumentation
- Prototype and evaluate new technologies for future product development
System Design & Analysis
- Design and develop precision analog circuitry and signal chains
- Analyze system performance, including noise and signal integrity considerations
- Support system-level modeling, simulation, and lab validation
- Drive testing, characterization, and performance optimization efforts
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Mentor engineers and contribute to technical development across the organization
- Support product development, troubleshooting, and technical decision-making
- Lead design reviews and contribute to engineering best practices
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 12–15 years of experience developing complex electronic or sensing systems
- Strong background in analog circuit design, particularly low-noise systems
- Experience working with signal processing for low-level or high-precision measurements
- Proven ability to lead complex technical projects and influence engineering direction
- Experience working in fast-paced, iterative development environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with advanced sensing or detection technologies
- Exposure to system modeling and simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, MATLAB, or similar)
- Familiarity with multidisciplinary system design environments
- Background in precision instrumentation or high-performance electronics
- Prior experience as a technical lead or subject matter expert
