Job Overview
Foster positive, meaningful interactions with children while remaining flexible and responsive to daily routines and changes and offering support where needed. Provide dependable, consistent support to teachers in creating a welcoming, safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that promotes each child’s growth and development. Maintain a clean, organized classroom and facility by following all health and sanitation guidelines.
Details
- $17.00/hour
- 40 hours per week
- 9-month position from mid-August to mid-May. If interested, summer hours may be available through HIT, Inc.
- Children attend Head Start on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Wednesdays are used for classroom prep and staff training.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all principles of confidentiality.
- Assist with implementing curriculum and lesson plans to meet the required Head Start Performance Standards.
- Assist with classroom management to ensure a safe, organized, and inclusive environment for all students.
- Engage with children through play-based activities that promote social skills, behavior management, and developmental milestones.
- Assist in helping children follow classroom routines, carrying out classroom jobs, going outside, toothbrushing, bathroom needs, completing drills, etc.
- Maintain clear communication with staff and parents to support children's progress and well-being.
- Prep meals & tables according to site specific procedures before breakfast, lunch, and snack; clean up after each meal. Clean classroom at the end of the day.
- Contribute to a positive classroom atmosphere by encouraging respectful interactions among students.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Experience working with children in educational or childcare settings is preferred, including daycare or preschool environments.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and team members.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Word.
