West Point Contractors currently has an immediate need for a Superintendent / Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) responsible for providing on-site functional supervision of our FAA underground utility and paving project in Palmdale, CA. The ideal candidate will have experience with federal government projects and will ensure the project is constructed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with design specifications, while maintaining effective communication and coordination across all project teams.

Superintendent / SSHO Responsibilities
- Supervise functional construction efforts to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule
- Plan, coordinate, supervise, and manage resources to meet project objectives
- Supervise and direct field supervisors and subcontractors to ensure productivity, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance
- Assist project team in scheduling, developing, and implementing project procedures, working documents, and standards
- Interface with all on-site work teams (including subcontractors) to resolve problems, ensure quality, safety, and achieve schedules
- Review shop drawings and prepare submittals for conformance with project specifications; maintain accurate submittal register for each task order
- Coordinate, supervise, and manage on-site trades personnel and subcontractor work
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and corporate safety initiatives
- Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience working on federal projects required
- Must be able to obtain access to Federal Installations
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred.
Work Experience
- 3 years in construction management and/or craft supervision (e.g., Foreman) in similar construction fields
- 3 years quality assurance and quality control experience in the field
- Experience in federal or public works projects - particularly FAA, USACE, NAVFAC, USAF, or U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
- Experience with paving, asphalt, utilities, airfield facilities, or control tower-related infrastructure preferred.
Knowledge, SkillsAbilities
- Thorough knowledge of construction methods, equipment, materials, company policies, procedures, and union agreements
- Experience managing projects ranging from $5M–$12M in a firm fixed-price environment
- OSHA 30-hour certification required
- Current CPR/First Aid certification
- USACE EM-385 Certified required
- Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory, and planning skills
- Proven time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work on multiple projects
- Flexible, self-motivated, and professional
- Meticulous with timely reports and meeting submission deadlines
- Experience using BuilderTrend software or similar construction management software
Additional Information
- Job Type: Full-time
- Salary: $115,000–$175,000, depending on experience
- Preference given to candidates residing in a HUBZone-designated area
