What are the responsibilities and job description for the Golf Course Superintendent position at West Plains Country Club?
West Plains Country Club is looking for a qualified Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the
maintenance program of the 18-hole golf course located on the southern Missouri border.
The Head Golf Course Superintendent reports to the General Manager and is accountable for overseeing
and actively participating in the overall maintenance of the golf course and facility grounds including:
Prepare the golf course daily to meet member and guest expectations. Weekly mowing and landscaping
schedules.
Lead all golf course maintenance and agronomic operations
Develop and execute agronomic programs that support consistent playing conditions
Manage irrigation scheduling, water allotment, and overall turf health. Irrigation of the golf course,
including hand watering in summer, replacing damaged heads, managing pump and wells, and repairing
system.
Equipment maintenance including setting reels, changing oil and spark plugs, keeping equipment logs,
and other common vehicle maintenance.
Managing budget and coordinating projects with the General Manager
Keeping accurate inventory of supplies and chemicals
Spraying and fertilizing the golf course. Maintain equipment, chemical, fertilizer, and irrigation
inventories
Managing, training, and hiring maintenance employees. Support a culture of professionalism,
accountability, and teamwork. Recruit, train, develop, and lead the golf course maintenance team
Coordinate and communicate effectively with club leadership and staff
Maintaining quality standards and following all current safety regulations
Maintain safe working conditions and operational standards
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
Requirements
Proven experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
Strong leadership and employee management skills.
Passion for agronomy, soil science, and data-driven decision-making in turf management and agronomy
preferred.
Able to obtain Pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain.
Knowledge of turf maintenance along with fertilizing/spraying practices.
