HDPE Pipe Fusion Technician
West Penn Energy Services – Shelocta, PA
Full-Time | Field-Based
West Penn Energy Services is seeking an experienced HDPE Pipe Fusion Technician to support upcoming field projects. This role performs fusion work on large-diameter, heavy-wall HDPE pipe (20” SDR7) using a McElroy 630 fusion machine. This is a full-time, long-term position based out of our Shelocta office, with most work performed in the field.
Responsibilities
- Perform HDPE butt fusion on large-diameter, heavy-wall pipe.
- Operate a McElroy 630 fusion machine safely and efficiently.
- Set up equipment, align pipe, verify temperatures, and complete fusion cycles per F3190 standards.
- Maintain accurate fusion logs and documentation.
- Inspect fusion joints for quality and compliance with specifications.
- Participate in daily safety meetings, JSAs, and toolbox talks.
- Follow all OSHA, company, and client safety requirements.
- Conduct equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
- Coordinate with Superintendents, Foremen, QA/QC personnel, and project teams.
Required Qualifications
- Experience fusing large-diameter, heavy-wall HDPE pipe (20” SDR7 or similar).
- Proficiency operating a McElroy 630 fusion machine.
- Valid F3190 fusion certification.
- Strong understanding of HDPE fusion procedures and safety practices.
- Ability to work outdoors in physically demanding field conditions.
- Valid driver’s license.
