About the Role
West Penn Energy Services is seeking an Accounting and Data Specialist who combines strong accounting fundamentals with a data-driven mindset. This role goes beyond traditional accounting—playing a key part in turning financial and operational data into meaningful business insight.
This position is ideal for someone who can own the details while also seeing the bigger picture, contributing to both day-to-day accounting operations and broader process improvements.
This role is not limited to traditional accounting functions—candidates should be comfortable balancing hands-on transactional work with analytical and process-driven responsibilities.
What You’ll Do
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Prepare and post journal entries with accuracy and timeliness
- Perform account reconciliations and support month-end/year-end close
- Maintain general ledger integrity and audit readiness
- Assist with AP/AR processes as needed
Data & Analysis
- Collect, validate, and analyze financial and operational data
- Build and maintain reports, dashboards, and tracking tools
- Identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement
- Support budgeting and forecasting efforts
Process & Systems Improvement
- Evaluate workflows and recommend process enhancements
- Support implementation and optimization of accounting and cloud-based systems
- Ensure consistency and accuracy across data platforms
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with leadership on reporting and special projects
- Translate financial data into actionable insights
- Provide ad hoc analysis as business needs evolve
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- 2–5 years of relevant experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Preferred:
- Experience with accounting/ERP systems (cloud-based a plus)
- Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools
- Experience in construction, energy, or project-based environments
